Belgaum News: On the occasion of Bhagawan Mahaveer Janma Kalyanak Mahotsav, a grand celebration will be organized on April 21, 2024, by Madhyavarti Utsav Samiti in Belgaum.
According to the Hindu calendar, Mahavir Jayanti on Trayodashi on Shukla Paksha in Chaitra month every year.
The custom to celebrate on April 21 was started 25 years ago by Narendra Jain, then the Income Tax commissioner. On this day, many cultural, social, and religious events have been organized every year for the last 25 years in Belagavi (Belgaum).
Many social programs will be organized including blood donation camps, told Rajendra Jain, Samiti Secretary. He added that Digambar and Shwetambar Jain communities have been organizing Mahaveer Janma Kalyanak Mahotsav together in Belagavi for the last 25 years.
Swami Mahavir was a symbol of non-violence and he adopted the message of “Live and Let Live”.
