World Nursing Day Event Organized in Belagavi on 11 May

Belgaum News: The World Nursing Day event was organized on Saturday, 11 May at the premises of the Medical Research Centre in Belagavi. It was organized by the Medical Research Centre and KLE Society’s Dr. Prabhakar Kore Hospital.

The aim of the event is to praise the work of nurses and spread awareness about how important nurses are to society.

The International Nurses Day is celebrated on 12 May every year, the birth anniversary of Florence Nightingale. The day is celebrated to spread awareness about the importance of nurses and their contribution to society. The Day is celebrated since 1965 and each year has a different theme. in 2023, the theme was “Our Nurses, Our Future”. Similarly, this year, the theme is “Our Nurses. Our Future. The economic power of care”

Colonel M Dayanand, Medical Director of the Institute said “Nurses meet patients before doctors, act as a link between patients and doctors.” He said the profession of nurses is a tough one as it involves taking care of the patient, someone you do not know.

He highlighted many job opportunities in the sector.

Nurses do not just play an important role in hospitals but also during emergencies like floods, tsunamis, earthquakes, and other natural calamities. One should not forget their contribution in the past such events.

Many nursing staff including the hospital nursing superintendent Shakuntala Kore, Selvi Mudhol, and Asharani were present in the event.
