Killed uncle for 1.5 acres of land in Belagavi

Belgaum News: In a land dispute of one and a half acres, a son killed his uncle in Dabadabahatti village of Athani taluk in Belagavi district. The incident took place on 10 May, when the accused, Khandoba, killed his uncle, Keshav in a drunk state in a ‘dhaba’ near Kokatanu village.

Keshav Bhosale, age 47, was a laborer, who bought land over 20 years ago from his brother (Khandoba’s father) by paying ₹75,000. Khandoba’s family wanted to sell more land as they needed the money.

Keshav asked the price as he wanted to buy the land but did not get any reply from the accused leading him to reach the court and he claimed that the land belonged to him.

On 10 May, Khandoba took his uncle to a ‘dhaba’ near Kokatanu village for oil extraction. Both got drunk to the full, lost their sense, and engaged in a quarrel. Khandoba picked a stone and started attacking his uncle. Keshav collapsed and died on the spot.

On receiving the information, the police of Aigali station reached where the incident took place for investigation. The accused, Khandoba, confessed that he killed his uncle in a land dispute.

The police are now investigating if only Khandoba was involved in the case or if it was a planned murder involving other people.
