Crocodile in Chikkodi Killed a 72-Year-Old Farmer

Belgaum News: Mahadev Punnappa Khure, aged 72, was found dead on the Doodhganga river bank on 10 May, Friday, in Chikkodi. Mahadev was a farmer and a resident of Sadalga village of Chikkodi.

Mahadev was doing his work at his farm near the river. As his daily routine, after work, he went into the river for a bath. According to the villagers, as he was about to come out from the river, a crocodile pulled his leg and dragged him inside the river.

A case has been registered at the Sadalga police station. After the autopsy report, the body was handed over to his family. There was a mark of injury on his left thigh as the crocodile pulled him from his thigh.

Mahadev was survived by his wife and two sons.

There is a fear among the farmers of Chikkodi after this incident. Also, there has been a rise in the number of crocodiles in the Doodhganga River in recent times.

This is not the only case, similar cases have been seen in the past where a crocodile had attacked locals and taken their lives.
