Belgaum News: The horticulture department in Belgaum has organized a mango and raisin fair in Belgaum at Hume Park, Club Road from 10-12 May. The mangoes of the farmers will be sold with the brand name ‘Belagavi mangoes’.
The fair will be inaugurated by the zilla panchayat CEO Rahul Shinde and DC Nitesh Patil on 10 May at 11:00 am and will be held from 9 am to 8 pm from 10-12 May.
The mangoes are surplus this year due to high temperature compared to the previous year which is why the prices will be lower per dozen. The mango crop is growing in a total area of 2928 hectares in Belagavi district.
Belagavi is one of the largest producer districts of mangoes in the country and is famous for its mango species.
Mahantesh Muragod said in an interview that the fair is organized this year to get a good price for the farmers. Apart from Belagavi, mangoes from other cities like Ratnagiri and Devagad will also be available at the fair.
Maharashtra is encouraging the farmers to participate in the fair.
