MP Urges Officials To Speed Up Land Acquisition For Projects On January 4

On January 4th, Belagavi MP Jagadish Shettar held a meeting at DC hall, Belagavi, to call for better coordination among revenue and department officials.

Belagavi MP Jagadish Shettar, a Lok Sabha member, has instructed revenue and other departmental officials to expedite land acquisition for various development works in Belagavi and the neighboring districts.

During a meeting at the Deputy Commissioner’s office on Saturday, Jagadish Shettar asked the officers to resolve the problems faced by land-losing farmers and objectors. He told the officers to ensure that all the acquisition proceedings were carried out efficiently and were “fast tracked”.

 Most of the land required for the Belagavi-Kittur-Dharwad railway line has been acquired, with only a small portion pending due to farmer objections, the Revenue Officers reported.

Shetter, in the meeting, said that he had received  information from the Karnataka Industrial Area Development Board officials in Dharwad about the project. The working progress is satisfactory, he said. He directed the officers to complete the process  by taking up demarcation of the lands in a joint exercise with KIADB and revenue officers.

He instructed officers to coordinate  with the National Highways Authority of India [NHAI] and other officers from Goa to ensure repair and reconstruction of the highway via the Chorla Ghat.

Mr. Shettar said that the Public Works officers and others to coordinate with officers from, Raichur , Dharwad and Bagalkot districts to ensure on-schedule construction of the Shaganamatti-Hungund-Raichur highway.

He asked the officers to work towards reconciling differences among farmers and various stakeholders over the construction of the Jhadshahapur-Honaga-Halaga-Machche bypass road.
