Mother and Son Aim for Record in 12-Hour Nonstop Swimming Relay in Belagavi

Belagavi, 3rd September 2024 – A special event is set to take place on 5th September 2024 at KLE’s Suvarna JNMC Swimming Pool in Belagavi. A mother and her son will attempt a 12-hour nonstop swimming relay, aiming to set a new record in both the Asia Book of Records and India Book of Records.

The event will run from 5:00 AM to 5:00 PM in an Olympic-sized pool. It is organized by Swimmers Club Belgaum and Aquarius Swim Club Belgaum.

About the Participants:

  • Jyoti S. Kori (44 years old): Jyoti has been a Lab Technical Officer in the Health & Family Welfare Department since 2000. She started swimming at the age of 38 and has since won 26 national medals, 54 state medals, and 6 medals at an invitational swimming event in Sri Lanka.
  • Vihaan S. Kori: Vihaan is a 6th-grade student at St. Xavier’s High School and has won 22 medals in various state and district-level swimming competitions.

This event aims to inspire working women and housewives to take time for themselves and engage in regular physical activity like swimming, which is great for both mental and physical health.

Support and Observers:

The event will be observed by Mrs. Rekha Singh, a representative from the Asia Book of Records and India Book of Records. Mrs. Jyoti and Vihaan have been training hard at the Suvarna JNMC swimming pool with the help of experienced coaches.

The event is supported by several organizations, including Swimmers Club Belgaum, Aquarius Club Belgaum, KLE Academy of Higher Education & Research (KAHER), Godabai Karning Foundation, Sankeshwar, DK Motive, and Rotary Club of Belgaum Elite.

This event will be an important milestone in the journey of a mother and son who share a passion for swimming and strive to inspire others.
