Belgaum News: The health department has seen a rise in Dengue cases in the Belagavi district. The people of Belagavi have been experiencing illness for the past few weeks. Voting, fever, cold, and diarrhea are some of the common health issues and ailments that have been facing by the people.
This is mainly due to extreme weather conditions in Belgaum, following continuous rainfall over the last few days. According to health officials contaminated food and water are also a reason for the increase in health issues in Belagavi.
The officials of the health department visit more than 12.5 lakh households every 15 days to spread awareness about dengue, chikungunya, diarrhea, and other diseases.
The officials are emphasizing keeping a check on the water sources and not letting water collect in an area to stop the spread of Dengue. The health department is trying to raise awareness to visit the government hospital in case you develop a fever. Change the water in the tanks every week.
As per a report published recently by the health department, there are 2230 typhoid cases between the period of Jan and April which was not the case of last year.
There are 699 dengue cases out of which 56 are confirmed cases during the period in the Belagavi district.
According to the people of Belagavi, the main cause of the increase in health issues is the weather and untimely rainfall from the last few days causing fluctuation in the temperature.
According to Mahesh Koni, District Health Officer, the increase of Dengue and Chikungunya is common during the start of the rainy season.
