The KLES Hospital in Belagavi has launched the city’s first Endoscopic Ultrasound (EUS) Machine which is a combination of Endoscopy and Ultrasound. This machine will be very helpful for the people of Belagavi as it will help in the early diagnosis of cancerous tumors, draining puss present in the deep cavities, taking biopsies of internal structure, and management of Gastrointestinal (GI) disease.
The EUS machine was inaugurated at the KLES Prabhakar Kore Hospital by Dr. Amit Maydeo, Endoscopist at Sir HN Reliance Foundation Hospital Mumbai. Other doctors including Dr. Prabhar Kore, KLE Society Chairman were also present.
More than 150 students and gastroenterologists from Mumbai, Delhi, Bengaluru, and Pune were present at the annual meeting organized by the KLE on 18 and 19 May where the exhibition of the machine and procedure of endoscopy was explained.
Chief Gastroenterologist at KLE Hospital, Dr. Santosh Hajare said this machine would take the health care of Belagavi to the next level. This will also be helpful for the people of the districts near Belagavi.
Explaining further, he said, that the EUS will help in stopping the emergency bleeding from the internal vessels, early diagnosis of tumors, looking beyond the GI tract, and draining puss which is not easily possible in deep cavities, and biopsy of internal structure would become easy.
