
The incident of robbery which took place last year on October 16, 2025, at Chorla Ghat in Khanapur taluk of Belagavi district, a tri-junction connecting Karnataka, Goa, and Maharashtra.
According to reports, a container transporting ₹400 crore in old ₹2,000 denomination notes from Goa to Maharashtra suddenly went missing at the Chorla Ghat in Khanapur taluk of Belagavi district stretch. A truck carrying this large sum of money disappeared mysteriously. Two trucks carrying containers filled with demonetised currency were travelling from the Karnataka–Goa border towards Maharashtra when the theft occurred at Chorla Ghat.
According to investigation reports, the cash was being moved for use in Maharashtra’s local body elections, raising serious political funding concerns and transparecy.
After the release of the video statement by Sandeep Patil, the case has taken a serious raising concern. In the video, it was claimed that the missing amount is not limited to ₹400 crore but could exceed ₹1,000 crore.
Sandeep Patil alleged that soon after the container disappeared, associates of Kishor Shetty kidnapped him at gunpoint. Belagavi Superintendent of Police K Ramarajan said that he had received the request from Maharashtra police to join the investigation.
