Woman Assaulted in Public View In Belagavi

BELAGAVI– A woman has been with her mother in Waddarwadi in Belagavi district, Karnataka, after facing harassment from her husband house in Maharastra, was subjected to a disturbing incident of public assault.

The women was allegedly assaulted in full public view after being stripped half naked in an incident that occurred in Waddarwadi under Malamaruti police limits in Belagavi.

On Wednesday, following a complaint, the police arrested three of her neighbours in connection with the unusual incident.

The victim stated in her complaint, “The neighbors ,Indira Hadakar, Huvappa Hadakar, and Manikath Hadakar repeatedly abused and attacked her and her mother because of a dispute.

Speaking to the media, the women stated,” I have been living with with my mother in Waddarwadi after facing harassment at my husband’s house in Maharashtra. However, the Hadakar family has been constantly harassing us to leave our house.”

The victim stated that she had previously filed a police complaint following an assault on her mother. However, when the police failed to take any action, the accused continued their torture towards her.
The victim alleged, “Before this, I had gone to the police station to file a complaint when my mother was assaulted. But the police didn’t pay any heed. As a result, the Hadakar family once again attacked and threatened us to withdraw the police complaint.”


However, even when someone comes to our house, the Hadakar family insults me ,accusing me of being involved in an illegal relationships. I told them to file a complaint if they have any doubts,” she said, accusing Huvappa Hadakar of even pulling her mother’s saree during the altercation.

Following the amid public outrage, MLA Asif Seth, Police Commissioner Iada Martin Marbaniang, and DCP Rohan Jagadish visited the victim’s residence for an inspection.

During the visit, the family members expressed their grievances and demanded justice.

Addressing the media, Police Commissioner Iada Martin Marbaniang confirmed that a case had been registered ,and three accused have been arrested.

He further stated, “There was an altercation between the complainant and her neighbors over a dispute. I have instructed the DCP(DEPUTY COMMISIONER OF POLICE) to file a detailed report on this matter.

We will also investigate the allegations of police inaction and claimed that the women was pressured to withdraw the complaint. “
