Why was Belagavi chosen for Karnataka Legislature winter session? Between 9 and 20 December?

Belgaum News: Belgaum is set to organize the winter session of the Karnataka legislature between 09 and 20 December 2024 at Suvarna Soudha. The last time winter session held in 2022 was also in Belagavi.

The government usually conducts winter sessions in Belagavi to focus on North Karnataka’s development. Belagavi has always been in the focus and is one of the fastest developing city in Karnataka.

The legislative assembly speaker U T Khader and legislative council chairman Basavaraj Horatti visited Belagavi on Friday for the inspection and only a few days are left for the winter session.

U T Khader stated, “We want the legislature session to be more successful. Therefore, we have been holding review meetings much earlier. Officials of different departments have been assigned responsibilities”.

The assembly wants more and more people to witness the proceedings of the houses, especially the students as they are the future of the state and country. To ensure this, passes will be arranged digitally for ease of access.

Issues related to North Karnataka will be addressed during the session.

The final decision is still pending, and the dates for the winter session are not yet confirmed due to the clash of events.

A challenge has already arisen due to the overlap of two major events. The Kannada Sahitya Sammelan which was supposed to happen on february 2024 is rescheduled for December 20-23 in Mandya.

On December 26 and 27, the government is planning to organize a grand event to acknowledge the 100-year mark of the Belgaum Congress Session which was presided by Mahatma Gandhi in 1924.
