Belgaum News: A super specialty hospital is about to open in Belagavi on the BIMS premises. The hospital was supposed to open by now but got delayed due to some technical issues, BIMS director Ashok Kumar Shetty said in a statement.
The construction work of the hospital was started in 2019 and completed in 2022 in December. Since then the work was halted due to lack of funds and grants for the equipment required in the hospital and for the manpower.
According to Ashok Kumar Shetty, the hospital is in the final stages and will be opening soon. Almost all the work is completed, just a few final touches are remaining. Once the hospital receives a green signal from the fire and safety department, the hospital will be open. It cost almost ₹140 crores to complete the hospital.
The hospital will have many specialized departments catering to the different needs of the patient. The first floor will have Neuro Surgery, Neurology, Plastic Surgery, and Endocrinology Departments.
The Second Floor will have Nephrology, Gastroenterology, and Surgical Gastroenterology. The third floor will be General wards and VIP rooms. The fourth floor will be operation theatres.
The hospital will not only cater to and help the needs of the people in Belgaum but also be easily accessible to the neighboring regions like Goa and Maharastra.
It took almost 5 years to fully complete the hospital. Ashok Shetty has assured the opening of the hospital soon.
