Karnataka Minister Laxmi Hebbalkar’s car met with an accident when it veered off the road while trying to avoid a dog. She and her brother, fellow Congress leader Chennaraj Hattiholi suffered minor injuries in the accident.

Karnataka Minister, Lakhmi Hebbalkar, the Minister for Women and Child Welfare in the Siddaramaiah led Karnataka government, were injured in a car accident on January 14, Tuesday in the early morning near Ambadagatti village in Kittur Taluk, about 85 km from of Belagavi District headquarters.
She was accompained by her brother Channaraj Hattiholi, Legislative Council member, fellow congress leaders in the car.
The incident occurred at around 6:00 am when the minister and her brother were en route to Belagavi after attending a Congress Legislature Party (CLP) meeting in Bengaluru late Monday night. Their vehicle, a Toyota Innova HyCross, lost control while attempting to avoid a stray dog on the road on Pune-Bengaluru and consequently collided with a tree. The incident was caught on video which sparked a political criticism. Both were promptly taken to a nearby private hospital in Belagavi for medical treatment.
As a result of the accident, Minister Lakhmi Hebbalkar sustained minor injuries to her back and face and will be discharged from the hospital in the next two days. , while Channaraj Hattiholi suffered a head injury and minor fractures. The driver and her gunman also suffered minor injuries and were discharged after first aid.
However, the crash had a severe impact, resulting in the deployment of all airbags in the vehicle. The front section of the car was extensively damaged as a result of the impact of the collision. A case has been registered for the same.
Superintendent of police Bheemashankar S.Guled ,inspected the spot and visited the hospital in which the minister is being treated .The mother of the minister and other family members visited her and inquired about the time.
The police stated that Home Minister G Parameshwar made a phone call to Ms Hubalkar’s son, Mrinal Hebbalkar, to inquire about her health. Dr Parameshwar has instructed officers to ensure the utmost care for the minister.
As per family sources,” Ms Hebbalkar and Mr Hattiholi had left Bengaluru for Belagavi on Monday night, after a party meeting. Hebbalkar choose to drive and not fly as there were no air crafts at night.
“My mother has minor injuries, and my uncle sustained a slight head injury. They are both under care and recovering well,” Mrunal Hebbalkar, the minister’s son, said.
Further investigations into the incident are presently in progress.
