Milk Prices Increased in Belagavi by ₹2, But Is it True?

The Karnataka Cooperative Milk Manufacturers Corporation KMF has increased the price of milk by ₹2 per liter but at the same time, the quantity of milk has also increased.

The KMF has decided to increase the price of milk but at the same time, the quantity of milk will also be increased by 50 ml per liter. In actuality, there is no increase in the price of milk as the quantity is also increased in a packet.

The decision came as this year there is a surplus in the product of milk as compared to last year. Last the the daily product was 90 lakh liters a day, whereas this year, the product has increased to 99 lakh liters a day.

The price and quantity are increased to prevent any loss of the farmers and the surplus milk should be consumed by the consumer. So basically, there is no increase in price per unit, it is still the same.

What’s the New Milk Price and Quantity?

If you live in Belagavi, the new milk price for a liter of milk packet is ₹46 for 1050 ml which means 1 liter + 50 ml. Likewise, if you buy a 500 ml packet, it will cost you ₹22 for 550 ml which means 500 ml + 50 ml.

Earlier the prices for 500 ml and 1 liter were ₹22 and ₹44 respectively.

Still, if you calculate, you are paying less now as compared to the previous price. Previously, 50 ml milk would cost you ₹2.2, now you are getting an extra 50 ml milk for ₹2.

The reason for surplus milk products is due to good rainfall this year making abundant fodder for the livestock and eventually increasing milk production.
