Maratha Samaj Bhawan in Belagavi

On the occasion of Rajshree Shahu Maharaj Jayanti on Wednesday, 26 June, a decision was taken to build Chhatrapati Shahu Bhavan in Sadashivnagar, Belagavi.

Many leaders were present on this occasion including SS More Basavaraj Myagoti, PM Jagtap Dilip Pawar, Jadhav Sadanand, Sunil Dongre, YS Chowgule, and others were present.

A meeting was organized by the former MLA Anil Benke with other members on June 26 and a decision was made for the construction of Maratha Samajh Bhawan and a hostel for poor students of the Maratha community in Belagavi.

Many officials and leaders attended the meeting including Maratha brothers of Karnataka Kshatriya Maratha Samaj, Activists, leaders, etc.

The decision came when MLA Anil Benke said that there is no building or closed structure of the Maratha community in Belagavi as many Maratha brothers and sisters live in Belagavi district so it is necessary to construct a building for them.

As per a report, there are more than 25 lakh Maratha people in Karnataka.

For this, he asked for the cooperation of the Maratha community.

Apart from a Martaha Samaj Bhawan and hostel, a decision is taken to establish a Taluk Kshatriya Maratha Parishad Committee in Belagavi.

According to Amar Yellorkar, an advocate, many Maratha people live in Belagavi and a dedicated place was granted to them many years ago so they live peacefully. Maratha Samaj Bhawan will be built on their site.

There are many poor Maratha people in Belagavi, a hostel facility will be a great help for the students coming from far places.

The Rajshree Shahu Maharaj Jayanti is celebrated every year on 26 June to pay tribute to Rajashree Shahu Maharaj for his contribution to society.

Shahu Maharaj was a great ruler and social reformer. People loved him because of his policies, his work towards lower caste issues, and the education sector.
