Karnataka Lokayukta police raided offices and house of the accused officers in Bengaluru City

The Karnataka Lokayukta Police raided offices, houses and farmhouse in the city of Bengaluru against eight government officers .

On Wednesday, The Karnataka Lokayukta police raided offices and house in the districts of Chikkamagalur, Bidar, Belagavi, Tumakuru, Gadag, Ballari and Raichur targeting the residences, offices, and properties of the accused officers and their relatives..

The Karnataka Lokayukta Police launched simultaneous search operations in several districts against eight government officers accused of amassing disproportionate assets in connection with accumulation of illegal assets beyond known sources of income.

Officials are examining documents, cash and valuable across various locations in the state.
The early morning raids targeted high ranking officials, and the accused government officials are Shobha, Joint Commissioner, Transport Departments, Bengaluru city. Dr. S N Umesh , Health and Family Welfare Officer (Kadur); Ravindra, Inspector, Minor Irrigation department  based in Basavakayan, Groundwater Development, Bidar, Praksh Sridhar Gaiwad, Tehsildar, Khanapur; S Raju ,retired Regional Transport Office (RTO) Official, Tumakaru, Hucchappa, Assistant Executive Engineer, Gadag Municipality, R H Lokesh, Welfare Officer ,Backward Classes Welfare Department, Ballari, Huliraja, Junior Engineer (Elect),BESCOM, Raichur.

Earlier, in July 2024, the Karnataka Lokayukta conducted raids at 56 locations across the state, targeting multiple officials in a similar case of disproportionate assets. During that operation, more than 100 Lokayukta officers participated in raids, which targeted officials in Bengaluru, Kolar, Mandya, Mysuru, Chitradurga, Kalaburagi, Belagavi, and Hassan districts.

The Lokayukta teams searched residences, offices and other locations connected to these officers.
In the year 2025,this was marked as the first major operation by the anti-corruption watchdog. The Lokayukta had conducted a similar statewide raid on the 12th of December last year, targeting properties of ten government officials.
That operation unearthed disproportionate assets valued at an estimates ₹48.55 crore. The raids are part of an ongoing effort to clamp down on corruption and to ensure accountability in the public services.
