The Ghataprapha River flows for almost 283 kilometers towards the east to meet the Krishna River. There is a dam built on the River near Gokak known as Gokak Dam. Also, the Markandeya River and Hiranyakeshi River are the two tributaries of the Ghataprabha River.

The distance of Gokak Falls from Belgaum is almost 60 km, actually, there are two routes going to Gokak Falls from Belgaum and both routes are more or less of the same distance. You can either take the route of Pachapur via Tumarguddi and eventually reach the Gokak Falls, or you can take the route of again Pacharpur via New Vantamuri. Both the routes are safe to travel and will take you almost 1 hour and 30 minutes to reach.

Being a native, I have been to this place many times, and I found the best time to visit Gokak Falls would be between July and October, which means during the rainy seasons when the water flow is good, and you can experience the beauty of the fall at its best.
Also, during the rainy season you can visit the Godachinamalki Falls which is almost 14 km from the Gokak Falls and it is also a recommendation, But during the dry seasons, you may not be able to experience this fall as there is no water flow.
