Gokak Falls is near Belgaum City, also known as Niagara Falls of India due to its shape and the way it flows and falls and I’m truly blessed that I live near this fall. I can say this is one of the most beautiful falls in India. The height of the Gokak Falls is almost 170 feet (52 meters) and there is a hanging bridge that is 200 meters long and 14 meters above bedrock.

Gokak Falls is Formed by which River

The Gokak Falls is formed by the River Ghataprabha which is a right-bank tributary of the Krishna River and flows eastward. The Ghataprapha River flows for almost 283 kilometers towards the east to meet the Krishna River. There is a dam built on the River near Gokak known as Gokak Dam. Also, the Markandeya River and Hiranyakeshi River are the two tributaries of the Ghataprabha River.

If you live in Belgaum or Belagavi and visiting the Gokak Falls for the first time, then let me tell you, Gokak Falls is not too far, and it is a must-visit place in Belgaum. Even I am from Belgaum and I do not know for how many times I have been to this place.

The distance of Gokak Falls from Belgaum is almost 60 km, actually, there are two routes going to Gokak Falls from Belgaum and both routes are more or less of the same distance. You can either take the route of Pachapur via Tumarguddi and eventually reach the Gokak Falls, or you can take the route of again Pacharpur via New Vantamuri. Both the routes are safe to travel and will take you almost 1 hour and 30 minutes to reach.

What is the Hubballi To Gokak Falls Distance

The distance from Hubballi to Gokak Falls is almost 120 km and you need to move towards the North to reach the destination. You can either reach the falls via the Belawadi route or via the Saundatti route. The distances of both the routes are almost the same and will take you almost 3 hours to reach the destination.

Gokak Falls is not too far from Gokak City, it is almost a 10 to 15 minute drive and the distance is 6 km. You need to move towards the Northwest direction to reach the destination.

Even if you are planning a trip to Gokak Falls, it is not too far. It is almost 105 km and will take you around 2 hours and 30 minutes to reach there but I can bet you won’t regret going there.

You need to move in the Southeast direction and take NH 48 which goes via Nipani. Take a left from Nipani and reach your destination.

What is the Best Time to Visit Gokak Falls

Being a native, I have been to this place many times, and I found the best time to visit Gokak Falls would be between July and October, which means during the rainy seasons when the water flow is good, and you can experience the beauty of the fall at its best.

Also, during the rainy season you can visit the Godachinamalki Falls which is almost 14 km from the Gokak Falls and it is also a recommendation, But during the dry seasons, you may not be able to experience this fall as there is no water flow.

What is the Opening and Closing Time of Gokak Falls

Many people and tourists have asked me this question what is the opening and closing time of the Gokak Falls? There is no opening and closing time of the Gokak Falls, as it is not a private property and it is not managed by the Government as of now.

You can visit this place at any time of the day, but take my advice, visit either in the morning or in the evening to see the sunset. Although, let me tell you, the fall looks just gorgeous all the time.
