Chikhale Falls lies in the city of Chikale, which has a range of beautiful waterfalls. To reach the place from Belgaum you need to travel almost 40 km from the main city.

Best Time to Visit Chikahle Falls

The best time to visit Chikhale Falls is during the monsoons and it’s when you’ll get the most picturesque view from the mountains and the waterfall will be in its full beauty. My advice would be to reach the place early and leave by 4-5 pm.

Although, you can visit the place almost all year round to get the most beautiful view you must visit it during the monsoon at least once as the clouds and fog are just in front hugging you.

How to Reach Chikhale Falls

If you are visiting the place from Belgaum (Belagavi) it will take you around 1 hour as the place is almost 40 km from the city. You need to move towards the South-West direction to reach the destination.

If you visit the place from Dharwad, it will take you 2 hours and 30 minutes as the place is almost 100 km from Dharwad and you need to move towards the North-West direction to reach it.

When you reach the Chikale village, you need to park your vehicle and trek for almost 2.5 km to reach your final destination and experience the beauty of the place.

Chikhale Falls Reviews

I have been to Chikahle waterfalls many time, especially during monsoon. I went again to the place but this time to ask the opinion and take reviews from the tourist:

  • “On the way to Dubare elephant park from Madikeri. You can stop for the views and photos. Nothing else. Cows are all over the place.”
  • “A calm and peaceful place to relax and spend some time together with your loved ones . It is advisable to visit during evening. When we visited, water was less. I think the best view is during rainy season. Parking is available. No entry tickets needed to visit.”
  • “A must visit place for nature lovers. It is ideally placed in reserve forest. It has a unique shaped dam with reservoir. One cannot enter the waters as it’s not safe. Best time to visit is in monsoon and after monsoon months. Tailor made for photography”
  • “This is a hidden place in Coorg. Unusual and not seen from the approach road. One needs to walk up till the end. It’s a different outlet of water from the reservoir that is unique.”
