BELAGAVI WOMAN ARRESTED FOR KILLING HER ALCOHOLIC HUSBAND.

A Woman from Belagavi, Karnataka has been arrested for killing her 40-year-old alcoholic husband, smashed his face with a stone and cut his body into two pieces so she could dispose it.

The husband, identified as Srimantha Itnali was killed by his wife, Savitri Itnali following suspicious reason that he was planning to sexually assault their daughter and tortured the wife for years which made her kill her husband, in Umrani Village near Chikkodi in Belagavi district, Karnataka.

As per police reports, she allegedly used a rock to smash her husband’s head and cut the body into two pieces. Acting on impulse, she stuffed the pieces of body in a barrel and rolled it over to a farm in the village. Then, she discarded the body and returned home to erase all the traces of the incident. She washed the rock and the barrel, and also burnt her clothes and the bedsheet. She threw away the ash in a compost pit.

According to the sources, the body was however found the next day,10 December, after the police investigation. The police initially did not suspect Savitri, but later brought her in for questioning. While she did not agree at first, she later confessed to the crime. She confessed that she killed him while he was sleeping outside, said the Police.

She also stated that her husband would trouble her with money and abused her for years. On the day of the murder, he had an argument with her over a piece of land she owned and wanted to sell the land and use the money to buy him a new motorbike. However, she also said that he was planning to sexually assault their daughter.

Thereby, she pleaded the police to take care of her children as they had no one else to seek shelter from. Thus, she has been arrested.

After questioning Savithri, the police were able to piece together the sequence of events. “She has been taken into custody, and further investigation is ongoing,” as officially stated.
