Under the corporation, Out of the 58 wards, only about 10 wards receive a continuous 24×7 water supply in their area.

The residents of the remaining 48 wards have raising their demands in continuous water supply for years now. The public representatives and officials have been giving a lame answer for many years, who have repeatedly cited the excuse that the “the project is being expanded .”

According to the local residents, the situation has become increasingly alleged that water supply has been going on for a month in certain areas, with water supply occurring only for once in every 7 to 12 days.

Even though there is water in the dams, the problems occurs due to the lack of maintenance.

With the onset of summer still a month away, drinking water problems have faced further challenges and have emerged in certain parts of the city.

Comparing the current situation to last year, the reservoirs supplying water to the city are abundant, the issue occurs to stem from improper management of resources which leads to an increase in the water problem.

Various areas of Belagavi district including Khasabag, Om Nagar, Shahapur, Bhagyanagar, Hindwadi, Kuvempu Nagar, Hanumana Nagar are currently facing water problems.
Despite abundant water availability, Belagavi is facing inadequate water supply issues. The primary source of water supply to Belagavi, the Rakasakoppa and Hidkal reservoirs ,have shown increase in water level due to heavy rainfall for the period of last two years. The Hidkal reservoir has a maximum maximum water storage capacity of 51 TMC feet, with current water storage holds 32 TMC .By Comparing it to the last year, it marks an increase of 1.4 TMC feet more water storage .
Similarly ,the Rakasakoppa reservoir stores a maximum capacity of 2,476 feet of water, which currently contains 2,473 feet of water, which is also an increase of about 1.4 percent as compared to the last year.
However, despite these condition, the available water is not being used properly and supplied to the people of the city.
The general public has expressed dissatisfaction that the failure of the management of the L & T company is responsible for water supply operations in the Belagavi City.

Belagavi City has about 74,000 water connections, with a daily water supply of 82 million litres (MLD) is being supplied from the Hidkal reservoir and 35 million litres (MLD) from the Rakasakoppa reservoir . Previously, drinking water in Belagavi district was supplied to the city once in every three days.

However, in the recent days, the water supply is being released to some specific areas once in a week, especially in some particular localities such as Kuvempunagar, Hanumana Nagar, Sahyadri Nagar, Alarawada, Srinagar, where residents are facing problems increasingly due to irregular water distribution.

The company states that it is supplying drinking water to the areas facing problem, through tankers on a daily basis.
However, the public has a high demand for proper management of the frequent fluctuations of water supply and immediate action should be taken to ensure continuous and reliable water supply in the areas.

To address this problem, they will require to plan efficiently ,maintain and equally distribution of water by the authorities who are responsible.

Moreover, the city is facing a significant drinking water crisis. The pipeline supplying water to Majgaon and other areas near the BEMCO Cross, which is not a business, has been damaged for over a week, and the repair work is still not completed and is currently underway.
However, the delay in completing the repairs has resulted in an disruption of water supply to the areas which are affected for another week.

Consequently, residents of Majgaon, Rajaram Nagar, Brahma Nagar, 4th Gate, Sant Rohidas Nagar, Gajanana Nagar and surrounding localities continues to face severe drinking water shortage.
Immediate action is required to be taken soon.
L&T company has been directed to supply water to all the wards of the city at least once in every three days.


Moreover, there are complaints regarding the insufficient distribution of water in several areas of the city.
Savita Kamble, Mayor of the Corporation, stated that a meeting will be held soon between the Corporation and L&T company.
During the meeting, the company will be instructed to take necessary precautions and steps to ensure that they will prevent further disruption and to promptly address the problems to the residents.


In the City of Belagavi, only 10 wards currently receive continuous water supply despite demanding for several times, the residents of 48 wards are facing irregular water supply in their area.
B.S. Gavimath of Kuvempunagar, said that this issue need immediate action and the issue should be considered seriously and arrangements should be made to release water at least once in every three days.
