The KLE Sampatkumar S. Shivanagi Cancer Hospital and Research Centre, was inaugurated by the Honorable president of India Droupadi Murmu, in 3rd January, 2025.

The hospital is located behind the existing Dr Prabhakar Kore Hospital and Medical Research Centre. The KLE Dr. Sampatkumar S. Shivangi Cancer Hospital is a beacon of hope, resilience and to underscore the power of Philanthropy to bridge the gap in healthcare for the cancer survivors.

This has been named after the donor Dr. Sampatkumar S. Shivanagi, an Indian-American Physician , Philanthropist, and Community Leader, who donated ₹8 crore for KLE Cancer Hospital , Belagavi.

Built For Care : A State-Of-The-Art Cancer Facility:

The Hospital spans over 1,75,000 square feet area with a capacity of 300 beds and was built with cutting-edge technology at a cost of over ₹300 crore. It is equipped with state-of-the art infrastructure and facilities with the latest Varian Halcyon Elite and Varian True Beam Linear Accelerators capable of providing Intensity modulated Radiotherapy with image guidance, Rapid Arc, Hyper Arc, Stereotactic Body Radiotherapy and Radiosurgery for precise treatments like IMRT, IGRT, VMAT and SBRT.

Specialized Treatment Units for Comprehensive Oncology Services:

The advanced facilities integrates various specialties under one roof which includes; Medical Oncology, Radiation Oncology, Surgical Oncology.

The surgical Oncology includes two modern operation theatres and a fully equipped ICU, Stem Cell and Bone Marrow transplant, Pediatric Oncology Gynae-Oncology, Head and Neck Oncology, Haemato- Oncology, Onco-neurology, Intraoperative Radiotherapy, Onco-Pathology, Onco-genetics, and much more therapies for the patients.

The Sagi Nova Brachytherapy Unit employ a High Dose Rate Cobalt-60 radioactive source which allows for focused and comprehensive radiation delivery in proximity to any tumor in the body of the patient. Additionally, the Cancer Hospital offers tailored plans for Palliative care and pain management. It also holds a specialized Pain and Palliative Care Unit and Lymphedema Clinic for the patients. It offers treatment for all types of cancer.

However, the medical center has a bone Marrow transplant unit to deliver life saving treatment for blood cancers. Besides, it also has a robotic surgery facility and a Radiation Oncology Department.

It facilitate various features for the patients which includes a well-equipped day care center for chemotherapy with trained staff for chemotherapy administration, treating around 400 patients monthly, receives different types of chemotherapy under the supervision of medical oncologists.

It also includes a Nutritional counselling, physiotherapy and a rehabilitation service with various subsidized treatment options through government and central government schemes offered by the government like the Ayushman Bharat Arogya Karnataka, Vajpayee Arogya Scheme, Rajeev Arogya Bhagya, Jyoti Sanjeevini Scheme, Deen Dayal Swasthya Seva Yojana (DDSSY) and other related schemes which helps the survivors for better treatment opportunity.
