BJP Leader Records Statement With CID Over Belagavi Attack Case


On 19 December, Thursday, BJP MLC CT Ravi appeared before the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) to record his statement which was related to an alleged attack on him in the Suvarna Vidhana Soudha in Belagavi.

G. Parameshwar, Home Minister has ordered the handing over of the case of alleged derogatory remarks by MLC and C.T. Ravi, Former Minister against Karnataka’s Women and Child Development Minister Laxmi Hebbalkar to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID). 


Ravi reported it to the media after he left the CID office in Bengaluru stating that he was attacked twice on December 19 within the Suvarna Vidhana Soudha premises in Belagavi.

Ravi was attacked by a group of people in the Suvarna Vidhana Soudha premises after he allegedly made derogatory remarks against Women and Child Development Minister Laxmi Hebbalkar.

According to reports, he was arrested and was taken to multiple locations  by the police in connection with his remarks against the minister.

According to him, some leaders of the member of BJP legislators had lodged a complaint with council chairperson Basavaraj Horatti regarding the attact on him while he was on his way to the council.

The CID also investigated a case related to Ravi making the derogatory remarks, which also led to alleged attack. Ravi said that,” I will attend when required and extend my cooperation to the probe”.

According to CID, ” Ravi was deposed before a DySP-ranked officer. On December 2024, speaking to reporters at Hubballi airport, he said the inquiry was already underway. However, on Thursday, Ravi was not questioned regarding the case.

Ravi stated the police,” My statement has been recorded and I have shared the details of the individuals those who have assaulted me, raised slogans and hurled expletives. The first attack occurred around 3 p.m., following lunch near the potico at the west entrance and the Suvarna Vidhana Soudha. We suspect there were about 25 to 30 attackers, which also includes the PA of Laxmi Hebbalkar.

Horatti had instructed the police officers to investigate the case.

Ravi also thereby stated that  video and CCTV footage of the incident would be examined as part of the investigation.
