Belgaum News Live: The kidnapper who abducted two children, Swati (4 years) and Vyom (3 years), in Belagavi (Belgaum) was shot by police in self-defense and is now admitted to a hospital in Athani for treatment. The incident took place on the morning of Friday, 25 October.

Dr. Bhimashankar Guled, Superintendent of Police stated, “In self-defense, we had to open fire”.

This happened after the police identified the vehicle of the kidnappers and efficiently caught them with their three teams. The team then faced an attack from the kidnappers’ side while the police were trying to stop the car and in self-defense, the police personnel had to open fire.

Who were the Children Kidnapped? What was the Whole Incident?

In a shocking incident, two children of a real estate businessman, Vijay Desai, were dragged from their house in the afternoon and kidnapped in Belagavi on 24 October. The incident was caught on a CCTV camera and immediately went viral on social media, showing two men running inside the house and dragging two children, who were playing, into their car.

Reason of Kidnapping

The reason is not yet known, but as per the initial investigation, it is said that the reason for the kidnapping is related to a financial dispute between Vijay Desai (father) and other people.

Police Investigation

As the police got the information about the kidnapping yesterday, they started their investigation and three teams to immediately catch the kidnappers. The police identified the kidnapped vehicle from the CCTV footage.

On Friday morning, in an attempt to stop the running car of the kidnappers, the kidnappers started firing at police. In self-defense, the police personnel fired back, and one of the kidnappers got injured and is now admitted to the Athani hospital.

A case has been registered under IPC section 363.
